FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What can I create with this Sudoku generator?
You can create printable Sudoku worksheets with different grid sizes, difficulty levels, page layouts, and answer keys. The generator lets you make single large puzzles, compact worksheet pages with several puzzles, or larger puzzle sets for classroom use, math centers, homework, or quiet activities.
Which Sudoku grid sizes are available?
You can choose between several grid sizes:
  • 4×4 — best for young children and beginners;
  • 9×9 — the classic Sudoku format;
  • 16×16 — a larger and more challenging version for advanced players.
Some page layout options may be limited for larger grids to keep the puzzles readable when printed.
How do the difficulty levels work?
The difficulty setting controls how challenging the generated Sudoku puzzles are. Easier puzzles usually have more given numbers and are better for beginners, while harder puzzles require more logic and problem-solving steps.
You can choose an easier level for kids or classroom practice, or a harder level for older students and adults.
Can I choose how many puzzles appear on one page?
Yes. Use the Puzzles per page setting to choose how many Sudoku puzzles should be placed on each worksheet page.
A single puzzle per page gives the largest and easiest-to-read grid. Multiple puzzles per page are useful when you want compact worksheets or many puzzles in one PDF.
What does “Total pages” mean?
Total pages controls how many worksheet pages will be generated. The total number of puzzles depends on both Total pages and Puzzles per page.
For example, if you choose 10 pages and 4 puzzles per page, the generator will create 40 unique Sudoku puzzles.
Are the puzzles unique?
Yes. Each generated puzzle is created as a separate Sudoku puzzle. When you change the settings or shuffle the puzzles, the generator creates a new set based on the selected options.
What does “Shuffle puzzles” do?
The Shuffle puzzles button creates a new set of Sudoku puzzles using the same current settings. It does not change the grid size, difficulty, page count, or layout.
Use it when you like the selected settings but want a different set of puzzles.
Can I add puzzle numbers?
Yes. Turn on Show puzzle numbers to label each puzzle as Puzzle 1, Puzzle 2, and so on.
This is especially useful when you generate many puzzles or include answer keys, because the puzzle numbers help match each puzzle with its answer.
Can I include answers in the PDF?
Yes. Turn on Include answers to add answer key pages to the PDF.
The worksheet pages are placed first, and the answer key pages are added after them. This makes it easy to print or share the puzzles separately and keep the answers at the end.
What is “Answers per page”?
Answers per page controls how many solved Sudoku grids appear on each answer key page.
Choosing more answers per page makes the PDF shorter and can reduce file size. The answer grids are smaller than the worksheet puzzles, but still readable for checking solutions.
Can I use these Sudoku worksheets in my classroom?
Yes. You can use the generated Sudoku worksheets for school activities, homework, math centers, or extra logic practice.
Including puzzle numbers and answer keys can make large worksheet sets easier to organize and check.
Is this tool free to use?

The Sudoku Generator is free to use for personal, educational, and school projects.
The printable Sudoku puzzles you create with this tool are released into the public domain. This includes generated Sudoku worksheets, puzzle sets, and answer keys.
